Medical Malpractice Attorney for OBGYN Harassment and Abuse

Legal Representation for Patients of Dr. Blaine McGraw at Fort Hood Army Medical Center

Patients deserve to be treated with respect and dignity when receiving medical treatment. This is especially true for women who visit gynecologists, since they may be placed in vulnerable situations where they could experience sexual harassment or sexual assault. Sadly, some doctors may take advantage of patients and commit horrific acts of abuse, and they may be allowed to continue to see patients even after reports of inappropriate behavior have been made.

This is the situation that has affected a large number of patients who received treatment from a doctor at an Army medical facility in Fort Hood, Texas. Dr. Blaine McGraw, an OBGYN who provided treatment for female servicemembers and the spouses of soldiers, has been accused of multiple forms of inappropriate and abusive behavior toward patients, including performing unnecessary pelvic exams, touching private parts without permission, and taking photographs and videos of breast and pelvic exams.

Abuse of Patients by Dr. McGraw

On October 17, 2025, Dr. McGraw was suspended from his position at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) announced that it is conducting an investigation. While Dr. McGraw has not yet been charged with a criminal offense, multiple patients have alleged that he has engaged in a pattern of abusive behavior.

One woman stated that she visited Dr. McGraw while she was pregnant to receive treatment for a sinus infection. She stated that during the visit, McGraw pressured her to submit to a vaginal exam, stating that it was mandatory. He also tried to perform a breast exam and pulled her shirt up, and he attempted to pull down her leggings. When she tried to report what had happened, she was told that nobody was available to help her. Later, she tried to file a formal complaint four times and was transferred between multiple departments before she eventually gave up.

In another incident, a servicemember attended an examination with his wife, and he observed Dr. McGraw recording a vaginal exam. McGraw had placed his cell phone in his shirt pocket with the camera facing out so that he could record the exam. The soldier stated that when he tried to report the incident, he was ignored by Army leadership.

Investigators have uncovered numerous examples of misconduct by Dr. McGraw, including thousands of photographs and videos of patients that he took over multiple years. While at least 65 women have come forward so far to report harassment and abuse by Dr. McGraw, it is likely that there are many more who were affected. Prior to working at Fort Hood, McGraw previously worked at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, where there were also reports of alleged misconduct. Thousands of patients may have been affected during the years that Dr. McGraw was allowed to continue practicing despite multiple complaints.

Civil Cases Addressing Abuse and Misconduct by Dr. McGraw

While Dr. McGraw is being investigated and may face criminal charges, this investigation may not address the ways patients have been affected. Fortunately, patients who have suffered harm due to Dr. McGraw's misconduct may have legal options. Civil lawsuits may allow patients to recover compensation for the damages they have suffered, including the emotional trauma caused by sexual harassment or sexual assault, as well as the Army's failure to respond to complaints and protect patients against harm.
